The Gang of “Operation 2010”

The assemblage of notorious politicos displayed here was created by a merging of two teams: the “Give Me Five!” lobbying team from D.C. and the Alabama chapter of “Operation 2010.” This confederation would stop at nothing – legal or illegal – to remove the most stubborn obstacle to dominating Alabama for the Republican Party, popular Alabama Governor Don Siegelman.
The Alabama GOP operatives – Bill Canary, Winton Blount III, Bob and son, Rob Riley, Judge Pryor – had been trying for years to defeat Siegelman, without success, and they were ready to pull out all the stops. To help his old friends, Karl Rove tapped the Capital Hill gang – composed of Jack Abramoff, Michael Scanlan, Ralph Reed and Grover Norquist – to bring in the talent, tactics, and ethical compromise needed to put Bob Riley in office and take Don Siegelman out of the picture once and for all.
